In order to apply these principles to the development of our software solution, the latest generation of KRIS is being developed agilely with several small teams working in parallel. The role of product owner is distributed across several shoulders in sales and development management, so that a maximum of experience and customer focus can flow into the platform.

Modern web technology on the client side

In the future, the KRIS client will be a pure web client. This offers users various advantages:

• Platform independence: KRIS works on different operating systems via a web browser and is not tied to a specific device. Hosting the entire application in the cloud is also conceivable.
• Enhanced security: Communication between server and client is SSL-encrypted and uses only a single TCP port, which increases security and reduces administrative overhead.
• Easier distribution and updates: KRIS does not require installation by the user. Updates are carried out centrally and are immediately available to all users.
• Easy accessibility: KRIS can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection, provided that this is network-technically enabled. This increases user mobility and flexibility.
• Costs and maintenance: Since no software needs to be installed or updated on the clients, the effort and costs for maintenance and support are reduced. Diagnostics can be done on the server side, and changes are implemented centrally.
• Integration with modern web technologies: web clients can be easily integrated with other web services and APIs and benefit from modern web technologies and frameworks. This makes it very easy to integrate with and into other web applications (PCS neo, WinCC Unified, Power-BI, Tableau, etc.).
• Responsive design: KRIS is responsive and can automatically adapt to different screen sizes and resolutions, which is particularly important for mobile devices.

Good news for all existing customers: KRIS 4 is compatible with KRIS³. Existing systems with the KRIS³ EMS app can be migrated to the new KRIS 4 app with an update. Customers with a maintenance contract will enjoy the new KRIS 4 web application app by app over the next few months and years. Existing project planning and functions will be retained, and new functions will be added.
